Piano Lounge Karaoke Sing-a-Long at the Green Room Lounge is the unique musical event for all those scenarios (and more). It’s a FREE event, and the full bar is open as well. The festivities start at 8pm on the first Thursday of each month.
So, what is the experience like, you ask? Think jam session meets karaoke. The one constant is someone on the house piano – typically local musician Dan Rafferty and sometimes Green Room owner Mike Eserkaln. From there, the instruments vary from month to month. We’ve seen a guitar, an accordian, a keytar (yea, a real live keytar) and a harmonica. And hey, if you want to join in on the musical side as well, the more the merrier. Then there are the songs. We pull up the words and chords from the trusty internet, and project them on the movie screen for Dan and everyone to see. From there, one to five folks jump on the microphones, often with the backing vocals of the rest of the room.
And the music selection? We’ll let Rafferty explain, “I never thought I’d play Beatles, rap, top 40, Disney, and Johnny Cash all in one night.” On a typical night you’ll hear upwards of 50+ songs of just about any genre you want to hear. And that’s the best part – like karaoke, you get to pick the songs that are played and sung!
