Learn how porcupine quills are utilized in Indigenous art. Prior to indigenous beadwork, porcupine quills were used in a variety of art forms such as, applique, embroidery, loom, and weaving. Preparing the quills is an intricate process and it is an expression of identity, creativity, and healing in Indigenous communities. Participants will learn techniques for prepping quills, dyeing a variety of colors, and learn the process of preparing quills for art projects.
