Transformation of Daphne

In Greek mythology the legend is told, Eros the god of love was angry at the god Apollo who mocked him about his archery skills. Eros shot an arrow at Apollo making him fall in love with Daphne, a huntress and daughter of the river god Perseus. Eros’ plan was that Daphne would reject Apollo’s love because she refused to marry. Apollo pursued Daphne and she asked her father to help her escape. So Perseus transformed Daphne into a laurel tree. Grief-stricken Apollo made the laurel his sacred tree.
